Network HR Limited is recruiting a commercially minded Transport Manager to lead its Nelson operations. This hands-on role oversees a small team of drivers and operations staff, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable service across the region.

You will develop people, identify new business opportunities, strengthen customer relationships and work with the General Manager to drive growth in a fast-paced transport network.

Our client is a well established New Zealand transport and logistics company, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and commercially minded Transport Manager to lead its Nelson operations.

As part of its ongoing focus on strengthening regional operations and supporting future growth, our client is looking for a hands-on leader who understands the transport industry, enjoys developing people and has the drive to identify and secure new business opportunities.

About the Role

Leading a small team of operations staff and drivers, you'll ensure the branch operates safely, efficiently and profitably while identifying opportunities to strengthen customer relationships and grow the business across the region.

This is a varied, hands-on leadership role combining operational management, people leadership and business development.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading, coaching and developing the Nelson operations team and drivers.

Overseeing daily transport operations, scheduling, resources and service delivery.

Driving operational performance, productivity and cost efficiencies.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers.

Identifying, securing and onboarding new business opportunities.

Ensuring compliance with transport legislation, health and safety requirements and company procedures.

Monitoring branch performance and implementing continuous improvements.

Working collaboratively with the General Manager and wider transport network to achieve business objectives.

About You

We're looking for a confident, practical leader who knows the transport industry and understands what it takes to run a successful operation.

You'll be equally comfortable managing the demands of a busy transport environment, supporting your team and building strong customer relationships.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

A full Class 5 driver's licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
