Job summary

RealNZ is seeking a BI / Data Engineer to become the technical backbone of our Data Platform, building pipelines, models and a semantic layer for trusted reporting and analytics. You’ll shape our data governance and collaborate across teams, including stakeholders who may be new to data concepts.

Experience with Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Power BI, and coding in Python/R is valued. You’ll help drive our Data and AI strategy from horizon scanning to delivery, reporting to the Head of Business

Qualifications

Proven experience as a data engineer or BI developer with dimensional modelling and data warehousing chops.
Advanced SQL and a good handle on pipeline and query optimisation.
Experience building a semantic layer that translates models into business metrics.
Solid data governance and data quality practices and the ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Design and build data pipelines, data models, and a semantic layer used by reporting and analytics.
Lead development of a scalable data platform supporting BI tools and AI features.
Collaborate with BI analysts and SMEs to translate raw data into trusted models.
Lend technical leadership on data governance, quality, and best practices across the stack.
