Job summary

Platinum Recruitment in Christchurch is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build and optimise data pipelines, platforms and models that power analytics across the enterprise. You will collaborate with analysts, engineers and business teams to deliver secure, scalable and trusted data solutions.

The role blends hands-on engineering with opportunities to improve data quality, platform performance and governance.

Qualifications

Strong SQL skills with production data solutions experience.
Experience with Databricks or a comparable cloud data platform.
Practical knowledge of ETL/ELT, data integration and pipeline orchestration.
Sound data modelling skills, including dimensional modelling and layered/medallion architectures.
Experience with Python or scripting, source control and CI/CD practices.
Understanding of data quality, governance and security; streaming/observability or data catalogue tools are advantageous.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines.
Create well-structured data models and curated datasets for analytics and reporting.
Contribute to cloud data lake/warehouse solutions with layered data architectures.
Improve reliability through testing, monitoring, observability and performance tuning.
Embed data quality, governance and security controls into delivered solutions.
Collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver outcomes and strengthen shared standards.
