Job summary

RealNZ seeks a BI / Data Engineer to be the technical backbone of our Data Platform in New Zealand. You will design and build data pipelines and semantic layers that power reporting, analytics, and AI tooling, and you’ll lead data governance and quality practices while collaborating with BI analysts and stakeholders.

You’ll work under the Head of Business Intelligence to translate complex data into trusted models, enabling self-serve analytics across the business and driving the data strategy

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a data engineer or BI developer with dimensional modelling and data warehousing
• Strong SQL and pipeline/query optimisation
• Experience building a semantic layer for business metrics
• Understanding of data governance and data quality practices
• Clear communication with non-technical stakeholders
• Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Design and build data pipelines, models, and the semantic layer that reporting and analytics depend on.
• Lend a hand with Power BI and analytics development.
• Provide technical leadership as we shape Data and AI strategy.
• Translate raw data into trusted, business-ready models for stakeholders.
