Job summary

Johnsonville Club is seeking an experienced Bar Manager to lead our bar operations in Wellington. You will manage a professional team, coach staff, ensure exceptional customer service, and maintain financial controls while upholding health and safety standards.

This hands-on role requires a current Manager's Certificate (essential) and LCQ, along with at least 5 years in hospitality management. The position offers evenings, weekends and public holiday shifts with competitive remuneration.

Bar Manager

As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Bar Manager to lead our bar operations and help deliver the high standards our members and guests have come to expect.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Club Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our bars while leading a professional and motivated team.

This is a hands-on management role where you'll be involved in everything from coaching staff and managing stock to ensuring compliance, maintaining financial controls, and delivering outstanding customer experiences.

You'll play a key role in driving service excellence and creating a positive team culture that reflects the values of Johnsonville Club.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and motivate the bar team.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to members and guests.
• Manage daily bar operations and ensure efficient service.
• Prepare staff rosters and manage team performance.
• Ensure compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and all Club policies.
• Maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness, and health & safety.
Manage stock ordering, stocktakes, and inventory control.

What We're Looking For

The successful applicant will have:

• A current Manager's Certificate (essential).
• Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ).
• At least 5 years' hospitality management experience.
• Previous experience managing busy bar operations.
• Gaming and TAB experience.
• Strong knowledge of POS systems and stock control.
• Experience with rostering, staffing, and performance management.
• Financial management experience.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• A positive attitude and commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
