Job summary

Compass Group New Zealand is seeking a part-time Bar Assistant to join the team at RNZAF Base Ohakea, delivering food, beverage and bar service to Defence personnel and visitors. The role offers a guaranteed 5.5 hours per week in a unique environment and a supportive team culture.

You will provide responsible service of alcohol, exceptional customer service and assist with bar operations, stock control and cleanliness to ensure a welcoming experience for staff and guests.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in hospitality, bar, café or customer service environments.
• Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for customer service.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a busy environment.
• Friendly, reliable, and team-focused attitude.
• Willingness to obtain Food Safety Unit Standards 167 and 168 if not already held.
• Full unrestricted NZ driver's licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Providing responsible service of alcohol.
• Professional customer service.
• Responding to customers' requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
• Cash and eftpos handling.
• Assist with the operation of the bar, preparing for service, taking orders, preparing drinks, taking meal orders and serving customers.

About The Role And Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking an enthusiastic Part-Time Bar Assistant to join our team at RNZAF Base Ohakea, working a guaranteed 5.5 hours per week. In this customer-focused role, you will help deliver exceptional food, beverage, and bar service while creating a welcoming experience for Defence personnel and visitors. Located within one of New Zealand's most unique Defence environments, you'll join a supportive team where no two days are the same and every contribution makes a difference.

You Will Be Responsible For

• providing responsible service of alcohol


• professional customer service


• responding to customers' requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner


• cash and eftpos handling.

What We Are Looking For
