Job summary

Compass Group New Zealand is seeking a friendly Bar Assistant to join our team at Burnham Military Camp on a fixed-term basis for approximately three months. The role offers 29 guaranteed hours per week, an immediate start, and a supportive environment focused on safety and wellbeing.

You will prepare the bar, provide welcoming service, process payments, maintain cleanliness, and assist with stock control as part of a Defence-site hospitality team.

Qualifications

• Current Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate.
• Previous bar, hospitality or customer service experience.
• Friendly, reliable and enjoys working with people.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Flexible, organised and able to work under pressure.
• Pride in maintaining high standards of health, safety and responsible service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the bar for service and serve beverages professionally and responsibly.
• Provide friendly, welcoming and helpful service to every customer.
• Follow responsible service of alcohol requirements and company procedures.
• Process customer payments accurately using the cash register and point-of-sale system.
• Maintain clean, hygienic and well‑organised bar, customer and storage areas.
• Assist with stocktaking, ordering, stock rotation and daily reconciliation of takings.
