Job summary

Financial Markets Authority – Te Mana Tātai Hokohoko is seeking a Principal Adviser, Banking (Deposit Taking) to shape how conduct regulation comes to life across Aotearoa’s deposit-taking sector. You will lead supervision initiatives and provide technical leadership across the team.

You’ll bring deep knowledge of conduct regulation, risk, and compliance, with experience interpreting FMC Act, CoFI, or consumer credit legislation. Strong stakeholder capability and mentoring are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in conduct regulation, supervision, risk, compliance or the broader financial services sector.
• Ability to apply legislation such as FMC Act, CoFI regime, or consumer credit regulation.
• Excellent stakeholder relationships and coaching abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible, enthusiastic technical leadership within the Deposit Taking team.
• Lead or support the drafting and operationalising of supervision approaches and plans.
• Provide technical mentoring and coaching to the Deposit Taking team.
• Build strong relationships with industry participants, regulators and internal stakeholders.
• Use data and insights to improve supervision processes, tools and approaches.
