Job summary

Office of the Ombudsman in Wellington is seeking a Senior Engineer – Infrastructure & Network to own the technology infrastructure, including Azure, data centres, and network connectivity across Wellington and Auckland. You will lead the move to Azure, establish an Azure Landing Zone, and run infrastructure-as-code practices with cost, capacity, and DR considered.

The role requires Azure expertise, cloud migration experience, and strong vendor management with ITIL experience.

Qualifications

Experience building and securing Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including virtual networks, compute, storage, and identity.
Experience leading a cloud migration, ideally a data centre exit with LAN/WAN/VPN connectivity.
Familiarity with CIS Benchmarks and network security principles such as segmentation and access control.
ITIL Foundation knowledge and experience managing external service providers.
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

Own the Office's technology infrastructure and Azure environment; secure, resilient and cost-aware.
Lead the data centre migration to Azure Landing Zone and establish DevOps workflows.
Serve as technical point of contact for vendors and ensure SLAs are met.
Coach the DAT team and help bring support in-house.
Maintain security compliance and disaster recovery/testing.
Collaborate with security and PMO teams.
