Job summary

DairyNZ is seeking a Solution Architect to work with delivery teams and stakeholders to shape end-to-end designs across applications, data, integration and cloud platforms. The role emphasizes practical, secure and scalable solutions aligned with enterprise architecture principles.

You will lead cloud-native architecture, preferably on Microsoft Azure, mentor delivery teams, and contribute to governance, risk assessment and architecture reviews.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Information and Communications Technology (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years’ experience designing end-to-end solutions across applications, cloud-native applications, data and integration.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure, APIs, integration patterns, middleware, data architecture fundamentals and security principles.
• Proficiency with architecture modelling tools and documentation practices, such as ArchiMate, UML, SparxEA.
• Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments with modern SDLC and CI/CD practices.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Leading end-to-end solution design across applications, data, integration and cloud platforms.
• Architecting cloud-native applications and services, preferably using Microsoft Azure.
• Translating business needs into clear solution options, identifying risks, constraints and trade-offs.
• Providing hands-on architecture guidance to engineering teams, and supporting governance reviews.
• Defining architecture approaches for AI-enabled solutions, including GenAI with security and privacy considerations.
• Promoting modern engineering practices and continuous improvement (CI/CD, IaC, secure development).
