DairyNZ is seeking a Solution Architect to work with delivery teams and stakeholders to shape end-to-end designs across applications, data, integration and cloud platforms. The role emphasizes practical, secure and scalable solutions aligned with enterprise architecture principles.

Your opportunity
As a Solution Architect, you will work closely with project delivery teams, engineeringteamsand business stakeholders to define and guide end-to-end solution designs across applications, data,integrationand cloud platforms. You will help ensure solutions are practical, secure, supportable,implementableand aligned withDairyNZ’senterprise architecture principles,standardsand roadmaps.
This role requires demonstrable, hands-on experience architecting and delivering cloud-native applications and enterprise cloud services, with a strong preference for Microsoft Azure. You will act as the Enterprise Architect’s delegated architecture representative within projects, helping ensure architectural decisions are well governed, risks and trade-offs are visible, and intended outcomes are delivered.
Whatyou’llbe doing
Reporting to the Enterprise Architect,you will support theDigital Technologiesteam,including:
Leading end-to-end solution design across applications, data,integrationand cloud platforms, ensuring solutions are practical, secure,supportableand aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
Architecting cloud-native applications and services, preferably using Microsoft Azure, and supporting practical decisions around hosting, integration, deployment, monitoring, reliability,scalabilityand cost.
Translating business needs into clear solution options,identifyingrisks, constraints and trade-offs, and working with the Enterprise Architect and delivery teams to recommend pragmatic decisions.
Providinghands-on architecture guidance to engineering teams, producing key design artefacts, and supporting architecture governance,reviewsand assurance activities.
Defining architecture approaches for AI-enabled solutions, including GenAI where relevant, with consideration for security, privacy, responsibleAIand operational readiness.
Promoting modern engineering practices and continuous improvement, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, secure development, qualityassuranceand new ways of working.

With hands-on experience architecting and delivering cloud-native applications and enterprise cloud services, you enjoy translating complex business needs into clear,robustand implementable solution designs. As a trusted advisor and subject matter expert,you’lldemonstrateintegrity and professionalism, lead through influence, and bring curiosity,clarityand energy to collaborative delivery.
We’dlove to hear from you if you have:
A tertiary qualification in Information and Communications Technology (or equivalent experience).
5+ years’ experience designing end-to-end solutions across applications, cloud-native applications,dataand integration.
Strong understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure, APIs, integration patterns, middleware, data architecturefundamentalsand security principles.
Proficiencywith architecture and design modelling tools and documentation practices, such as ArchiMate, UML,SparxEA, solution designs,diagramsand decision records.
Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments with modern SDLC and CI/CD practices.
Proven ability to collaborate with and influence technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical andnon‑technicalaudiences.
Preferred experience includes Azure Solutions Architect certification, TOGAF or other architecture training, architecture governance or review boards, AI-enabled solution design, vendor evaluation, technical due diligence, proof-of-concepts, and leading or mentoring delivery teams through influence.
