Description du poste

  • Specialist AV role supporting AUT's teaching spaces, meeting rooms and specialist environments
  • Help shape and improve AV technology across a large, modern university
  • Permanent, full-time role with AUT's Client Facing Technology team, ICT Services

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is bold and unapologetically different, centred on students and grounded in Knowledge that Works driven by talented, progressive people. We are New Zealand's newest university, ranked 5-stars by QS Universities 2025 and a place of opportunity where more than 26,000 students with talent and potential succeed, supported by a community of more than 4,000 staff based primarily across three Auckland campuses. Built on collaboration, shared purpose and the values of Pono (fact, truth, reality, integrity), Tika (acting accordingly, doing what is needed, ethical expression), and Aroha (empathy, care, compassion). AUT offers an innovative, forward-thinking environment where committed people work together to improve outcomes for students, communities, and the world.

AUT recognises the importance of Te Tiriti, Māori and Pacific knowledge, leadership, and contribution across our university and is committed to creating environments where these communities can thrive. We embrace diversity in all its forms and are proud to welcome people of all ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religious and political beliefs, socio-economic situations and accessibility needs.

Our Team

The ICT Teaching & Learning team sits within Client Facing Technology, ICT Services, and is responsible for the operation, support and continuous improvement of AUT's AV systems and services.

We're a small, specialist team, so your technical knowledge, judgement and contribution will genuinely matter.

We are seeking an experienced audio-visual professional with broad technical knowledge and hands‑on experience across a wide range of AV and associated technologies.

This is a technical role with scope to contribute beyond day‑to‑day AV support, helping to move AV at AUT forward through technical standards, remote monitoring and management, system design and the evaluation of new technologies.

You’ll be a strong problem solver and communicator, comfortable getting into the technical detail while also seeing opportunities to improve how things are done.

Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager, ICT Teaching & Learning, you’ll work closely with the Learning Environment Analyst, other ICT teams and external vendors.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing specialist technical support
  • Coordinating proactive maintenance and helping ensure AV systems remain reliable and operationally ready
  • Developing and maintaining AV technical standards, including system design, testing and quality assurance
  • Helping develop AUT's remote monitoring and management capabilities across the AV environment
  • Evaluating, testing and supporting the deployment of new AV technologies and system updates
  • Working with vendors, service partners and ICT teams to resolve technical issues and support technology decisions
  • Sharing technical knowledge and practical guidance with ICT colleagues
About you | Ko wai koe

If you enjoy getting into the technical detail, solving problems and finding better ways to do things, you’ll fit right in.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Strong hands‑on experience with AV systems in enterprise environments
  • Broad technical knowledge across AV systems and technologies, including classroom AV, video conferencing, audio and control systems
  • A practical understanding of networked AV and how AV systems operate within ICT environments
  • Good technical judgement, attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance, standards and improvement
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and work effectively with both technical and non‑technical people
  • A commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, and support for AUT's Te Aronui journey

Experience working client‑side in a large organisation and supporting AV as an operational service would be an advantage.

Experience with technologies such as Crestron, Biamp, BSS or Microsoft Teams Rooms would also be useful, along with experience in commissioning, testing or operational handover, and relevant vendor, networking, ITIL or service management knowledge.

As a professional member of staff at AUT, you’ll help keep us moving forward. From improving our services and streamlining our systems to supporting the experiences of students and staff across our campuses. By working collaboratively, solving problems and driving practical improvements, you’ll play a vital role in helping us operate smoothly, raise our profile, and evolve what we do, every day.

You will bring an open, engaging and collaborative approach, with the flexibility to respond to changing requirements and actively contribute to a positive and collegial environment. You will demonstrate cultural humility, awareness and respect when engaging with indigenous peoples and culturally diverse communities. Experience supporting indigenous, equity, or inclusion focused initiatives is highly desirable.

At AUT, you’ll be part of a values‑led university that supports you to thrive in your role and career. We offer:

  • Flexible working and a strong, caring culture that supports belonging
  • Recognition frameworks that reflect your contribution and how you live our values
  • The tools and trust to make a meaningful difference every day
