Job summary

Auckland Council’s ATOC Real Time Operations team is seeking a Transport Network Operator in Auckland. The role monitors traffic in real time, using CCTV and multiple data sources to respond to incidents and events.

You will coordinate responses to crashes, optimise traffic signals, provide timely traveller information and support planned activities. The position operates a 24-hour shift pattern including weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience in Real Time Operations within large organisations.
• Ability to multi-task and stay highly organised.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Personal resilience to handle traumatic events.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Good command of spoken English for radio transmissions.
• Displays a strong customer service ethos.
• Experience using multiple systems.
• Transport management or emergency services background desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Real-time monitoring of the transport network using CCTV and other sources.
• Incident management, coordinating response to crashes, breakdowns, storms and other unplanned events.
• Optimising traffic signals in real-time to improve safety and efficiency.
• Providing travel information to help customers stay informed before and during journeys.
• Helping manage the impact of planned activity such as roadworks and events by coordinating with stakeholders.
• Responding to planned and unplanned events and optimising customer journeys.
