Job summary

New Zealand Red Cross in Wellington is seeking an experienced Assistant Shop Manager for a casual, as-needed role to support the shop during busy periods and cover leave. You will help run the shop smoothly, keep it welcoming, and deliver warm customer experiences.

Key responsibilities include till/cash handling, assisting with shop displays, stock preparation and control, and supporting volunteers with Health, Safety and Wellbeing practices. Flexible options offered.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced Assistant Shop Manager to join our team in a casual role that provides flexible, as-needed support across the shop. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and can step in to cover shifts and support our permanent team during periods of leave or increased demand. You'll help keep the shop running smoothly, looking its best, and delivering warm, welcoming customer experiences.

In this role you will:

• Utilise your solid cash management and till management experience
• Assist with shop presentation/displays
• Undertake stock management/preparation and control as per training
• Support volunteers' adherence to our Health, Safety and Wellbeing practice

To be successful you will have:

• Experience in a retail sales environment
• Experience in cash handling, cash management, and retail shop operations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working as or with volunteers
• Skills in dealing with customers
• Enthusiasm and commitment to work as a team member of Red Cross
• Self-motivation and a positive and friendly approach
• Reliability and work with integrity
