Job summary

Turftech is seeking a reliable Groundsperson to join the Howick College grounds maintenance team. This hands-on role maintains turf, gardens, and outdoor areas to keep the school tidy and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors.

You will mow, line-mark, aerate, fertilize, prune, and plant, under the guidance of senior staff, with a focus on safe, sustainable turf management. We offer on-the-job training and a Turf Management apprenticeship path.

Qualifications

• Physical stamina for outdoor work in varying weather.

We’re looking for a reliable and hardworking Groundsperson to join our grounds maintenance team at Howick College. This hands-on role involves maintaining the school’s grounds, gardens, and outdoor areas, ensuring a safe, tidy, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Our easy-to-follow school maintenance system will give you the confidence and ability to settle into this role with ease.

What you'll be doing

Assisting with the maintenance and care of turf, gardens, and landscapes.

Performing tasks such as mowing, line-marking, aeration, fertilization, and pest control.

Helping with planting, pruning, and tree care under the guidance of senior staff.

Monitoring plant health, identifying potential issues, and assisting in implementing solutions.

Operating and maintaining horticultural and turf maintenance equipment.

Learning about sustainable practices and turf management techniques.

What we're looking for

A strong interest in horticulture, landscaping, and turf management.

Willingness to learn and grow within the industry.

Ability to work well in a team environment and take direction.

Physical stamina and the ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.

Good communication skills and attention to detail.

Previous experience in turf maintenance or gardening is a plus but not required.
