We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations – from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities. Our focus is on delivering equitable, accessible, and high-quality healthcare for all New Zealanders.

About the role

We are looking for an Application Support Analyst to join our busy PAS (Patient Administration Systems) team with the Hospital and Campus Management Portfolio in Central region.

You will operate at a support level and maintain and support all our critical PAS, PMS and related applications used across the Central Region of Health NZ.

As an Application Support Analyst, you will work closely with business stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure applications remain stable, secure, and fit for purpose. This role plays a key part in troubleshooting issues, supporting system maintenance, managing incidents, and contributing to ongoing enhancements that strengthen performance and reliability.

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain and support business applications to ensure stability and availability
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve application incidents and problems
  • Manage and track service requests using service management tools
  • Perform routine system maintenance and support upgrades or improvements
  • Work collaboratively with development and technical teams to resolve complex issues
  • Support users by providing guidance and clear communication on system issues
  • Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with operational, security, and risk management requirements

From time to time, you may be required to travel, participate in on-call support, or work outside standard hours to assist with incidents, upgrades, or project go-lives.

About the Team and Service

This role is in the Hospital & Campus Management portfolio, within the Digital Applications & Products group, which sits within Digital Services and plays a critical role in ensuring Health NZ's systems remain stable, secure, and effective.

Our teams support clinicians, hospitals, and operational services nationwide, helping ensure kaimahi remain connected and supported through reliable digital solutions. You'll join a collaborative, supportive environment that values learning, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

About you

You'll bring solid technical support experience, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to work calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment. You enjoy working as part of a team and take pride in providing high-quality support.

You will ideally have:
  • 3-5 years' experience in a technical support or IT support role
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, ideally supporting complex business critical applications.
  • Experience using service management tools such as ServiceNow or Jira Service Management
  • A relevant IT qualification or certification (e.g. CompTIA A+)
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices and basic networking concepts
  • Experience working in the health sector (desirable)

You'll also demonstrate a commitment to equity in healthcare outcomes, and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
