Job summary

Mahitahi Trust is seeking a resolute and compassionate Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Practitioner to join our go-getting clinical team in Central Auckland. You will assess, support and guide clients through recovery, applying evidence-based practices to improve wellbeing and resilience.

As part of a multidisciplinary service, you will collaborate with colleagues, undertake treatment planning, and promote harm reduction and client-centered care.

Qualifications

  • DPAANZ recognised applied addiction qualification.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based practices in addiction treatment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Empathy, patience, and a commitment to client-centered care.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.

  • Assess, support, and guide clients through the recovery process.
  • Direct client interactions, treatment planning and collaboration with the team.
  • Promote harm reduction and a substance-free lifestyle.

Te mahi tūranga | About the role

As an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Practitioner, you will be a vital member of our clinical team, contributing to the well-being of individuals facing substance abuse challenges. The AOD Practitioner is instrumental in facilitating positive change, fostering resilience, and improving the overall quality of life for individuals affected by substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility will be to assess, support, and guide clients through the recovery process. This dynamic role involves a combination of direct client interactions, treatment planning, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and a commitment to promoting a harm reduction and/or substance-free lifestyle.
