Job summary

Pathways in Wellington is seeking an Alcohol and Drug Practitioner to join the Clinical Specialist Team. You will establish meaningful connections, provide assessment and a range of therapeutic interventions for tāngata whai or taiohi with alcohol or other drug challenges, and support families.

This permanent, full-time role runs Monday–Friday 8:30am–5pm. Applicants must hold APC and full DAPAANZ registration, with experience in mental health and addiction.

Qualifications

• Hold an Annual Practising Certificate (APC) and full registration with DAPAANZ.
• Experience in Alcohol and Drug, addiction and mental health.
• Meet the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (2003).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic intervention and services to support whai ora and taiohi to improve personal outcomes.
• Deliver high-quality, professional services in all interactions.
• Provide recovery-focused and strengths-based interventions, support and recommendations.

In your role as an Alcohol and Drug Practitioner (AOD) in the Clinical Specialist Team, you will establish meaningful connections with individuals and families, promoting their overall well-being through expert assessment, compassionate care, and ongoing educational development.

You will engage in collaborative efforts to enhance the quality of care, where your specialised knowledge is highly valued.

As an AOD Practitioner, you will provide assessment and a range of therapeutic interventions for tāngata whai or taiohi with alcohol or other drug challenges.

This is a permanent and full-time role, Monday – Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.

Key responsibilities of the role may include:

• Provide therapeutic intervention & services to improve the ability for whai ora or taiohi to succeed in their personal lives.
• Provide high quality, professional services in all interactions.
• Provide recovery-focussed & strengths-based intervention, support and recommendations.
• Collaborate with and refer to internal and external services.
• Support the design, development and facilitation of group-based approaches.

Bring your clinical expertise, experience and commitment to supporting tāngata whai ora and whānau. You will also:

• Hold a current Annual Practicing certificate and full registration with DAPAANZ.
• Have experience within Alcohol and Drug, addiction, and mental health
• Meet the requirements of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (2003).
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people.
• Have excellent attention to detail, particularly with regard to written documents.
• Be well organised with effective time management, organisation and file maintenance.
• Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
