Job summary

Pathways Health Ltd in Wellington is seeking a dedicated Alcohol and Drug (AOD) Practitioner to join our Clinical Specialist Team. You will deliver person-centred, evidence-based care and engage with tāngata whai ora and whānau.

The role requires current APC and DAPAANZ registration, experience in addiction and mental health, and strong communication, organisation and documentation skills. The position is permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30am–5pm, with competitive leave and wellbeing

Qualifications

  • Hold a current Annual Practising certificate and full registration with DAPAANZ.
  • Experience in Alcohol and Drug, addiction and mental health.
  • Meet Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (2003).

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic intervention & services to improve whai ora or taiohi to succeed in their personal lives.
  • Provide high quality, professional services in all interactions.
  • Provide recovery-focused & strengths-based intervention, support and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with and refer to internal and external services.
  • Support the design, development and facilitation of group-based approaches.

In your role as an Alcohol and Drug Practitioner (AOD) in the Clinical Specialist Team, you will establish meaningful connections with individuals and families, promoting their overall well-being through expert assessment, compassionate care, and ongoing educational development.

You will engage in collaborative efforts to enhance the quality of care, where your specialised knowledge is highly valued.

As an AOD Practitioner, you will provide assessment and a range of therapeutic interventions for tāngata whai or taiohi with alcohol or other drug challenges.

This is a permanent and full-time role, Monday – Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.

Key responsibilities of the role may include:

  • Provide high quality, professional services in all interactions.
  • Provide recovery-focussed & strengths-based intervention, support and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with and refer to internal and external services.
  • Support the design, development and facilitation of group-based approaches.

Bring your clinical expertise, experience and commitment to supporting tāngata whai ora and whānau. You will also:

  • Hold a current Annual Practicing certificate and full registration with DAPAANZ.
  • Have experience within Alcohol and Drug, addiction, and mental health
  • Meet the requirements of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (2003).
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people.
  • Have excellent attention to detail, particularly with regard to written documents.
  • Be well organised with effective time management, organisation and file maintenance.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
