Job summary

Pathways in Wellington is seeking a qualified Alcohol and Drug Practitioner to join the Clinical Specialist Team. You will deliver person-centred, evidence-based care, conduct assessments, and provide a range of therapeutic interventions for tāngata whai ora and their whānau.

This permanent, full-time role runs Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5pm, with opportunities to collaborate across services and contribute to group work; applicants must hold APC and be registered with DAPAANZ, and have experience in

Qualifications

• Must hold an Annual Practising Certificate (APC) and be fully registered with DAPAANZ.
• Experience within Alcohol and Drug, addiction and mental health.
• Meet the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA) requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with range of people.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management.
• Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment and a range of therapeutic interventions for whai ora and taiohi.
• Deliver recovery‑focussed, strengths‑based interventions and recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal and external services.

The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
In your role as an Alcohol and Drug Practitioner (AOD) in the Clinical Specialist Team, you will establish meaningful connections with individuals and families, promoting their overall well-being through expert assessment, compassionate care, and ongoing educational development.
You will engage in collaborative efforts to enhance the quality of care, where your specialised knowledge is highly valued.
As an AOD Practitioner, you will provide assessment and a range of therapeutic interventions for tāngata whai or taiohi with alcohol or other drug challenges.
This is a permanent and full-time role, Monday – Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.
Key responsibilities of the role may include:

• Provide therapeutic intervention & services to improve the ability for whai ora or taiohi to succeed in their personal lives.
• Provide high quality, professional services in all interactions.
• Provide recovery-focussed & strengths-based intervention, support and recommendations.
• Collaborate with and refer to internal and external services.
• Support the design, development and facilitation of group-based approaches.

About You | Mōu
Bring your clinical expertise, experience and commitment to supporting tāngata whai ora and whānau. You will also:

• Hold a current Annual Practicing certificate and full registration with DAPAANZ.
• Have experience within Alcohol and Drug, addiction, and mental health
• Meet the requirements of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (2003).
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people.
• Have excellent attention to detail, particularly with regard to written documents.
• Be well organised with effective time management, organisation and file maintenance.
• Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
