AOD Clinician — Community-Based Recovery Partner

Job summary

Metlifecare in Auckland region is seeking an experienced AOD Clinician to join our Papakura-based team in a permanent, part-time role (24 hours per week). You’ll deliver comprehensive assessments and trauma-informed recovery support within a community-based service that meets people in safe, comfortable settings and works alongside Peer Support Specialists.

You bring 2+ years in AOD or mental health, DAPAANZ registration (preferred), current First Aid with CPR and a full NZ driver licence.

Qualifications

• DAPAANZ registration (current) preferred.
• 2+ years experience in AOD and/or mental health settings.
• Strong knowledge of addiction, recovery and therapeutic frameworks.
• Experience completing clinical assessments, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions.
• Current First Aid with CPR and a full New Zealand driver licence.

Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive AOD assessments and develop individualised, recovery-focused treatment plans.
• Provide therapeutic interventions tailored to each person’s needs, strengths and goals.
• Work collaboratively with Peer Support Specialists to deliver person-centred care.
• Build effective relationships with whānau, community organisations and other support services.
• Assess and respond to risk, including developing safety and relapse-prevention plans.
• Maintain clear, accurate and timely clinical records.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate group education and recovery programmes.
• Contribute to a service that is culturally responsive, trauma-informed and grounded in recovery principles.
