Job summary

New Zealand Government in Papakura is seeking an experienced AOD Clinician for a permanent, part-time role. The position is 24 hours per week (48 hours per fortnight), Monday to Friday, in a community-based service for adults 18 and over.

You will operate within a dual Peer Support and Clinician model, delivering holistic, culturally responsive assessment, treatment and outreach. You’ll partner with Peer Support Specialists to help people progress in their recovery and engage whānau and local

Qualifications

• Current DAPAANZ registration (preferred).
• 2+ years’ experience working in AOD and/or mental health settings.
• Strong knowledge of addiction, recovery and therapeutic frameworks.
• Experience completing clinical assessments, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions.
• Demonstrated experience supporting people experiencing substance use challenges.
• Current First Aid certification including CPR, or the willingness and ability to obtain this.
• A full, clean New Zealand driver licence.

Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive AOD assessments and develop individualised, recovery-focused treatment plans.
• Provide therapeutic interventions tailored to each person’s needs, strengths and goals.
• Work collaboratively with Peer Support Specialists to deliver person-centred care.
• Build effective relationships with whānau, community organisations and other support services.
• Assess and respond to risk, including developing appropriate safety and relapse-prevention plans.
• Maintain clear, accurate and timely clinical records.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate group education and recovery programmes.
• Contribute to a service that is culturally responsive, trauma-informed and grounded in recovery principles.
