Job summary

Palmerston North Intermediate invites applications for an energetic Hard Materials / Technology teacher to lead Year 7–8 projects in our Amokura specialist team. You will teach in a well-equipped workshop, helping students design, build and learn by doing.

We value creativity, safety, and culturally responsive practice, with strong workshop management. NZ teacher registration (or eligibility) and police vetting are required; join us to help students turn ideas into real outcomes.

Qualifications

• NZ teacher registration (or eligibility) required.
• Certificated teacher status with NZ teaching certification.
• Experience teaching Hard Materials / Technology to intermediate students is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach Hard Materials / Technology to Year 7–8 students in a well-resourced workshop.
• Plan and deliver practical, project-based learning.
• Maintain high workshop safety standards and align to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
• Collaborate with Amokura specialist team to design and deliver integrated learning experiences.

Do you love seeing an idea turn into something real?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Hard Materials / Technology teacher to join our Amokura specialist team and inspire our Year 7 and 8 students to design, problem-solve, build, create and learn by doing.

At PNINS, Technology is hands-on, practical and purposeful. You will teach in a well-resourced workshop, giving students opportunities to develop real skills, work with a range of materials and equipment, and experience the satisfaction of taking a project from an idea through to a finished product.

We are looking for someone who:

• brings energy, creativity and strong practical skills to the workshop
• can engage and motivate intermediate-aged students
• has strong workshop management and safety practices
• enjoys teaching practical skills and giving students opportunities to apply them independently
