Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking an Administrator - Application Support for the Canterbury Radiology team in Christchurch. The role focuses on supporting the applications, software, and administrative systems used by our medical workforce.

You will learn new systems quickly, explain processes clearly, and work across PACS and rostering-related tasks. This is a non-technical IT support role that emphasizes practical problem-solving and ownership.

  • Collaborate with PACS team or other support groups to resolve issues.
  • Create or update user guides and process documentation.
  • Maintain roster patterns and ensure data accuracy.

Don't be put off by the word Administrator. You don'tneed to have followed a traditional administration career path to be a greatfit for this role.

We're much more interested in what you can do: how quicklyyou learn new systems, how you approach problems, whether you can explainthings clearly to others, and whether you're someone who takes ownership andfollows things through.

As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claimsettlement this role has beenmapped to National Band 5/Profile 5 (finalplacement step is dependent on skills, knowledge and experience)

About the role

You'll support the applications, software and administrativesystems used by our medical workforce, including Senior Medical Officers,Fellows and Resident Medical Officers.

You'll become someone our people can turn to for practicalhelp with the systems they use in their work.

On any given day you might be:

  • helpingsomeone navigate an application or resolve a straightforward system issue;
  • settingup a new member of our medical workforce with the systems and access theyneed;
  • showingsomeone how to use a system or application effectively;
  • workingwith our PACS team or other support teams to resolve an issue;
  • developingclear user guides or process documentation;
  • maintainingand updating medical workforce roster patterns; or
  • workingacross several systems and tasks while keeping information accurate and upto date.

This isn't a technical IT support role. You'll resolve whatyou can, understand when something needs specialist support, and connect withthe right people when an issue needs to be escalated.

About you

You may already do this kind of work without having Administratorin your job title.

Perhaps you're the person in your team who learns a newsystem first. Maybe you're good at figuring out why something isn't working.You might enjoy creating a better process, showing someone an easier way ofdoing something, or turning something complicated into instructions that makesense.

What matters is that you can demonstrate that you:

  • learnnew software, applications and systems quickly;
  • areconfident exploring how systems work and developing a strong workingknowledge of them;
  • approachproblems logically and can work through straightforward issues;
  • canexplain systems and processes clearly to other people;
  • areaccurate and have strong attention to detail;
  • canorganise your work and manage competing priorities;
  • communicateconfidently and build positive working relationships;
  • takeownership and follow things through; and
  • arecomfortable working with confidential and sensitive information.

You don't need previous experience in Radiology, healthcareor application support. Experience with workforce systems, rostering,application support or healthcare may be useful, but capability, attitude andthe ability to learn are more important to us than a particular careerbackground.
