Administrative Assistant/Staff Testing Specialist

We are seeking a reliable and versatile Administrative Assistant & Staff Testing Specialist to join our team based in Cromwell. This unique role combines general recruitment administration and candidate vetting with managing our local staff testing operations.

You will spend 1–2 full days per week handling on-site drug and alcohol testing, with the remainder of your week dedicated to administrative support, candidate vetting, and operational assistance. Operating in Cromwell, you will work autonomously while receiving remote daily support, management, and direction from our wider recruitment team.

This role is ideal for someone looking for a fresh career direction who brings strong clinical, compliance, or health‑related experience. Backgrounds in nursing, occupational therapy, healthcare, or occupational health are highly preferred and exceptionally well‑suited to this position.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conducting pre‑employment and site‑specific drug and alcohol testing (1–2 full days per week) in accordance with NZ standards
  • Managing testing documentation, chain of custody procedures, and reporting compliance
  • Assisting the recruitment team remotely with candidate vetting, reference checks, and compliance documentation
  • Maintaining accurate candidate and client records within our database/ATS
  • Handling general office administration, phone inquiries, and candidate onboarding support
  • Working autonomously in Cromwell while maintaining clear daily communication with remote management

What We’re Looking For

  • Background: Prior experience in nursing, occupational therapy, healthcare, or occupational health is highly preferred.
  • Tech Skills: Highly tech‑savvy with the ability to quickly adapt to new software, CRM/ATS platforms, and digital databases.
  • Self‑Management: Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to work independently under remote management.
  • Communication & Vetting: Strong interpersonal skills for candidate vetting, phone screening, and professional customer service.
  • Detail & Compliance: Meticulous attention to detail with high integrity regarding confidentiality and chain of custody testing protocols.
  • Licensing: A clean, valid NZ Class 1 Driver License is required.
