Job summary

The University of Auckland seeks an experienced Academic Operations Team Leader to guide a professional staff team delivering operational and administrative support to academic leaders, staff and students in the School of Medicine, enabling excellence in teaching, learning and research.

You will lead workflow planning, develop capabilities, nurture stakeholder relationships and drive service excellence in a large, complex organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience leading academic operations or professional services teams.
• Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
• Strong planning, communication and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team delivering high‑quality operational and administrative support.
• Partner with Academic Heads to ensure effective day‑to‑day operations.
• Champion service excellence, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
• Lead workflow planning, workload allocation and capability development.
• Act as a specialist lead within one or more operational portfolios.
• Contribute to strategic planning and faculty‑wide initiatives.
• Support recruitment, financial administration and school operations.
