Job summary

IKM in Stavanger seeks an experienced Offshore Safety Engineer to drive functional safety, F&G/ESD system design, and fire protection for the NCS. You will develop evacuation plans and assess WHERA, chemical risk, and human factors while coordinating external environmental considerations.

The role requires strong Norwegian and English communication, a relevant engineering degree, and proven offshore experience in the oil & gas sector. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Stavanger.

Qualifications

• Experience in oil & gas offshore process safety is essential.
• Knowledge of offshore standards (NORSOK, PTIL, ISO, PSA, API).
• Strong communication in Norwegian and English required.

Job description

• -Perform Functional Safety Engineering (FSA) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) activities.
• -Handle area classification and design of Fire and Gas (F&G) / Emergency Shut Down (ESD) systems.
• -Develop plans for escape routes and evacuation means.
• -Design active and passive fire protection (PFP) systems.
• -Assess working environment factors (WHERA, chemical risk analysis, Human factors).
• -Manage external environment assessments (BAT, environmental budgets, emissions, discharge to sea, chemical usage).

Required expertise

• -Master or Bachelor degree within relevant engineering topics.
• -Solid experience within the Oil & Gas industry on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).
• -Experience with FEED and early study projects is highly preferred.
• -Strong knowledge of offshore process and process safety design.
• -Experience conducting HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and WHERA.
• -Good knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (NORSOK, PTIL, ISO, PSA, API).
• -Strong communication skills in both Norwegian and English.
• -A systematic, accurate, and collaborative working attitude.
