Job summary

Kongsberg Maritime AS in Norway is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Structural Analysis to join our Offshore & Special Purpose team. You will contribute to developing and maintaining complex winch and handling systems for vessels in the offshore market.

Lead structural assessments across the product lifecycle, perform strength, fatigue and FEM analyses, and verify designs against standards and classification society requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable field.
• Experience with FEM and structural analysis.
• Knowledge of 3‑D design using NX/Teamcenter.
• Experience in maritime or offshore sector is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Structural design, analysis and verification for new products and solutions.
• Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to meet structural integrity and safety requirements.
• Lead structural assessments across the product lifecycle, including strength and fatigue analysis.
• Ensure compliance with standards and classification society requirements; support design optimization.
• Provide structural engineering support to manufacturing, procurement, testing, certification and QA activities.
• Assist sales with technical solutions and project proposals.
• Collaborate with the team professionally and socially.

Senior Mechanical Engineer – Structural Analysis

Kongsberg Maritime AS is growing and we want you to be part of our journey. As a senior engineer you will play a part in our dynamic Offshore & Special Purpose team.

Our team develops, delivers and maintains complex winch and handling systems for a broad range of vessels in the offshore market. You will contribute to developing new and exciting products and be part of a highly skilled team.

Responsibilities

• Structural design, analysis and verification of new products and engineering solutions for internal and external stakeholders.
• Execution of customer deliveries in collaboration with project managers, product owners and multidisciplinary project teams to meet structural integrity, safety and performance requirements.
• Lead structural assessments throughout the product development lifecycle, performing strength, fatigue and finite‑element analyses of winches, handling equipment and related structures.
• Oversee structural design activities, verify compliance with applicable standards and classification society requirements and support design optimisation efforts.
• Provide structural engineering expertise to manufacturing, procurement, testing, certification and quality assurance activities.
• Support the sales organisation with solutions and offers for customers.
• Collaborate with the team socially and professionally.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable field.
• Knowledge of mechanical 3‑D design using NX/Teamcenter.
• Experience with the finite element method (FEM) and structural analysis.
• Practical experience in the maritime or offshore sector is an advantage.
