Job summary

Kongsberg Maritime is seeking a senior engineer to lead structural design and analysis for winches, handling equipment, and related structures. The role focuses on FEM, 3D mechanical design, and collaboration across project teams to meet safety and performance standards.

Based in Norway, you will contribute to the product development lifecycle, support manufacturing and quality assurance, and engage with customers and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Degree within mechanical engineering or similar.
  • Competence within mechanical 3D-design (NX/Teamcenter).
  • Experience with Finite Element Method (FEM) and structural analysis.
  • Maritime industry or offshore marine operations experience is an advantage.

Job description

Kongsberg Maritime AS is growing - and we want you to be part of our journey. Join us as a senior engineer. In this role, you will play a part in our dynamic Offshore & Special Purposeteam. Our team develops, deliver and maintain complex winch and handling systems for a broad range of vessels within the offshore market. With us you will contribute to developing new and exciting products and be part of a highly skilled team. In this role, you will be responsible for the structural design, analysis, and verification of new products and engineering solutions for both internal and external stakeholders. You will execute customer deliveries in close collaboration with project managers, product owners, and multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring that structural integrity, safety, and performance requirements are met. You will take a leading role in structural assessments throughout the product development lifecycle, performing strength, fatigue, and finite element analyses (FEA) of winches, handling equipment, and related structures. You will oversee structural design activities, verify compliance with applicable standards and classification society requirements, and support design optimization efforts. In addition, you will provide structural engineering expertise to manufacturing, procurement, testing, certification, and quality assurance activities, contributing to the successful delivery of reliable and compliant solutions.

We think you should have:
  • Degree within mechanical engineering or similar
  • Competence within mechanical 3D-design, we use NX/Teamcenter.
  • Experience with Finite element method (FEM) and structural analysis
  • Practical experience from maritime industry or experience from offshore marine operations is an advantage
