Job summary

Elkem ASA Technology seeks an experienced Senior Project Engineer Automation to drive automation engineering from concept through commissioning and to support optimization and modernization of existing systems. You will contribute across projects, align with plant teams, and guide technical delivery on automation and electrical work packages.

The role requires a high level of technical judgement, strong communication in English and Norwegian, and willingness to travel to Elkem sites in Norway.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc degree in Automation, Cybernetics or a related technical discipline.
• Strong technical expertise in industrial automation systems, including PLC, HMI, SCADA, industrial networks, interfaces, system architecture and industrial control systems (IACS).
• Experience from industrial projects, including supplier follow-up, technical verification, troubleshooting, risk assessments and root cause analyses.
• Good understanding of automation, instrumentation and electrical systems, with potential cross-discipline electrical package responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Execute automation engineering activities in industrial projects.
• Act as project engineer, technical package lead or discipline resource within assigned projects, including responsibility for automation and electrical work packages.
• Develop and review automation specifications, solution concepts and technical documentation.
• Follow up suppliers, verification activities and technical deliverables.
• Support troubleshooting, root cause analyses and implementation of corrective actions.
• Contribute to modernization and lifecycle improvement of existing automation systems.
• Ensure robust integration between automation, electrical, instrumentation and related systems.
• Contribute to standardization, continuous improvement and development of engineering methods and tools.
