Job summary

The Department of Information Science and Media Studies at Norway University of Bergen is seeking an associate professor in Media and Interaction Design to strengthen teaching and research within MIX. The appointee will work across interaction design, media technology, AI, and human-centered intelligent systems, contributing to both bachelor’s and master’s programs and external collaborations.

Qualifications

• Norwegian PhD or equivalent in interaction design, HCI, information science, media technology or closely related field.
• Demonstrated academic qualifications at associate professor level.
• Ability to teach and supervise at bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD levels.
• Document teaching and pedagogical competence relevant to the position.
• Proven English working language proficiency.
• Willingness or ability to acquire Norwegian language competence within three years.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research at internationally recognised level in HCI, interaction design, or related areas.
• Teach and supervise topics in the MIX bachelor’s and master’s programmes, including design practice and UX.
• Develop and lead independent research projects and seek external funding.
• Strengthen collaboration with industry and the creative-technology sector, including Media City Bergen.
• Participate in academic administration and development of study programmes and research environments.
• Contribute to department’s academic and social environment through collegial exchange and student engagement.
• Be physically present at the Department in Bergen.
