Job summary

SearchApi is seeking a Ruby Engineer (Web Scraping) to advance browser automation, CDP internals, and anti-bot strategies. You will work on production-grade scrapers, scale data extraction, and directly influence API integrations and documentation in a fully remote setting.

Ideal candidates excel in Ruby on Rails, concurrency, and infrastructure. You’ll ship features daily, collaborate with a small, fast-moving team, and engage with customers to understand their needs.

Qualifications

• Deep experience with browser automation and web scraping.
• Proficient in Ruby on Rails and modern Ruby.
• Strong understanding of CDP internals and anti-bot strategies.
• Experience with concurrency models and distributed systems.
• BSc or higher in CS or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Fix broken parsers under time pressure.
• Add new elements to existing search engines.
• Build and ship new search engine integrations.
• Reverse engineer protections and anti-bot systems.
• Debug browser automation issues (CDP, fingerprinting, evasion).
• Create and improve docs pages.
• Develop landing pages and admin dashboard features.
• Review PRs and help test.
• Talk to customers directly and gather feedback.
• Rotate on customer support and ship what they need.
• Proactively update customers on progress.
