Job summary

Mercor is seeking a meticulous Malayalam annotator to build training data for document AI. You will annotate multimodal Malayalam documents, bound regions with precise reading order, and transcribe text down to the character level.

You will work on real published Malayalam pages, including handwriting and dense layouts, and undergo peer review to ensure accuracy and consistency across hundreds of pages.

Qualifications

• Native Malayalam speaker with full command of the Malayalam script and orthography.
• Experience with annotation, transcription, localization, or related language data tasks is preferred.
• High precision and character-level accuracy are required.

Responsibilities

• Source Malayalam PDFs and identify multimodal elements to annotate structure.
• Bound page regions (title, headings, paragraphs, tables, figures) with types and reading order.
• Link regions to corresponding figures/tables via parent IDs.
• Transcribe all text exactly in Malayalam, including handwritten content.
• Record metadata like language, document type, page dimensions, and flags for tables and handwriting.
• Review a colleague's work as part of a second expert review.
