Job summary

Mercor is seeking an Odia language annotation specialist to build training data for document AI. You will identify and bound page regions, assign reading order, and transcribe all text in Odia script with precision. You will verify work through peer-review and ensure layout diversity in collected documents.

Successful candidates will have native Odia proficiency, experience with document-related tasks, and an unwavering attention to detail in complex page layouts.

Qualifications

• Native Odia speaker with full command of Odia script and orthography.
• Experience with annotation, transcription, localization, proofreading, or regional-language data review is beneficial.
• Exact character-level accuracy is required; diacritics must be correct.
• Consistent taxonomy application across hundreds of pages is expected.
• Comfort with unfamiliar layouts: multi-column newspapers, exam papers, handwritten forms.

Responsibilities

• Source publicly accessible Odia PDFs containing multimodal elements for annotation.
• Annotate structure: bound meaningful regions and assign component type and reading order.
• Record relationships by linking regions to their parent figure/table identifiers.
• Transcribe faithfully in Odia script, flagging illegible regions.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, dimensions, flags.
• Review colleague's work during end-to-end checks.
