Job summary

Mercor is seeking a native Telugu speaker to annotate and transcribe Telugu documents with meticulous attention to detail. You will identify and bound meaningful regions, assign types and reading order, and ensure faithful character-level transcription across diverse documents including handwritten and multi-column layouts.

Qualifications

• Native Telugu speaker with full command of Telugu script and orthography.
• Character-level accuracy is required.
• Experience with annotation, transcription, localization, proofreading or related roles.

Responsibilities

• Source Telugu PDFs and identify multimodal elements (images, tables, diagrams) and record data sources.
• Annotate page structure: bound regions, assign component type, and reading order index.
• Link regions to parent figures/tables and ensure correct relationships.
• Transcribe all Telugu text faithfully, flagging illegible regions.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, dimensions, and handwriting/handwritten content flags.
• Participate in peer-review of work by a second Telugu expert.
