Job summary

NACOS Marine is seeking an experienced Communication Protocols Developer to join our R&D team and help shape the next generation of marine automation systems.

You will design, implement, and validate secure, high-performance communication infrastructure connecting embedded controllers and operator systems across safety-critical networks, focusing on reliability and real-time data exchange. Collaboration across international teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, software or electrical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with communication protocol stacks for embedded/real-time systems.
• Strong C/C++ skills on resource-constrained platforms.
• Experience with UDP, TCP/IP, Multicast, OPC-UA, Modbus, MQTT.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain communication architectures for embedded and real-time systems.
• Implement and optimize protocol stacks (UDP, Multicast, TCP/IP, OPC-UA, Modbus, MQTT).
• Develop transport, session, and application layer functionality with state machines and parsing.
• Define secure OT network architectures meeting maritime cybersecurity standards.
• Evaluate COTS products for NACOS Marine integration.
• Define protocol specs, sequence diagrams, state charts, and interfaces.
• Optimize communication performance for timing, latency, and throughput.
• Develop unit/integration tests and automated test environments.
• Debug interfaces with protocol analyzers and log traces.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation across the SDLC.
