Job summary

Thor Companies seeks expressions of interest from Electrical Project Engineers to support the design and delivery of electrical power systems for data centre infrastructure in Norway.

The role combines practical electrical design in EPLAN with project engineering across UPS, batteries, and power distribution, collaborating with procurement, manufacturing and project teams to produce complete design packages.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical design or electrical project engineering.
• Strong knowledge of EPLAN for electrical drawings.
• Experience with UPS systems and battery installations.
• Familiarity with IEC standards and Norwegian electrical requirements.
• Ability to interpret specifications and translate to deliverables.
• Data centre or critical power project background.

Responsibilities

• Produce and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts using EPLAN.
• Support specification, selection and integration of UPS systems and batteries.
• Carry out load assessments, UPS capacity calculations and battery sizing.
• Develop equipment and cable schedules and bills of materials.
• Review supplier drawings and coordinate interfaces.
• Coordinate electrical deliverables with other disciplines and track schedules.
• Support manufacturing with drawing clarifications and design changes.
• Contribute to design reviews, FAT and commissioning.
• Maintain accurate design records and final project documentation.

Thor Companies is seeking expressions of interest from Electrical Project Engineers for an anticipated opportunity supporting the design and delivery of electrical power systems for data centre infrastructure.

The role is expected to combine practical electrical design using EPLAN with project engineering responsibilities across UPS systems, battery installations and power distribution. You would work closely with engineering, procurement, manufacturing and project teams to translate technical requirements into complete electrical design packages.

Expected responsibilities

• Produce and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and associated documentation using EPLAN.
• Support the specification, selection and integration of uninterruptible power supply systems and associated batteries.
• Carry out or review load assessments, UPS capacity calculations and battery sizing against project requirements.
• Develop equipment schedules, cable schedules and bills of materials.
• Review supplier drawings and technical submissions, resolving queries and coordinating equipment interfaces.
• Coordinate electrical deliverables with other engineering disciplines and track progress against project schedules.
• Support manufacturing and assembly teams with drawing clarifications, design changes and technical problem solving.
• Contribute to design reviews, factory acceptance testing and the resolution of issues identified during testing.
• Maintain accurate design records and support preparation of final project documentation.
• Practical experience in electrical design or electrical project engineering.
• Strong working knowledge of EPLAN, with the ability to produce and amend electrical drawings independently.
• Experience with UPS systems and associated battery installations.
• Understanding of electrical power distribution, protection and equipment integration.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into engineering deliverables.
• Experience coordinating with suppliers, project teams and other engineering disciplines.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Previous work on data centre or other critical power projects.
• Experience with modular electrical infrastructure or prefabricated power systems.
• Familiarity with battery autonomy calculations and redundant power arrangements.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, FAT or commissioning activities.
• Familiarity with relevant IEC standards and Norwegian electrical requirements.

Engineers from industrial, offshore or oil and gas backgrounds with relevant EPLAN and UPS experience are also encouraged to express interest.
