Job summary

Park Avenue is recruiting a Private Sector Housing Officer to support a Surrey/West London local authority backlog with HMO licensing work. The role covers a busy caseload of around 300 licensing cases and 120 properties needing licensing, with a flexible, hybrid schedule requiring 2 days per week in the office.

The role focuses on HMO licensing, enforcement and housing conditions, with in-house training offered and a contract currently running until 31st March.

• Escalating cases through to Fixed Penalty Notices where required.
• Supporting wider nuisance and enforcement work.
• Possible involvement with high-rise housing matters.

Private Sector Housing Officer

£45-£55 per hour

Full-time

2 days per week in the office

Initial contract until 31st March

Park Avenue are working with a Local Authority in Surrey/West London who are looking to appoint an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to support their team with a significant backlog of HMO and licensing work.

The team currently has a busy caseload, with approximately 300 licensing cases and around 120 properties still requiring licensing, so they are looking for someone who can come in and hit the ground running.

The Role

You'll be working across a varied Private Sector Housing caseload, including:

• HMO licensing and processing
• Investigating housing conditions
• Supporting the reduction of an existing licensing backlog
• Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices
• Escalating cases through to Fixed Penalty Notices where required
• Supporting wider nuisance and enforcement work
• Potential involvement with high-rise housing matters

Experience across Private Sector Housing, HMO licensing and enforcement would be particularly beneficial.

The Council can provide some training around their internal processes.

The Details

• Rate: £45-£55 per hour, with some flexibility for the right candidate
• Hours: Full-time
• Hybrid: 2 days per week in the office
• Flexibility around which days you attend
• Some site-based work will be required
• Public transport is possible, although access to a car would be beneficial
• Contract currently expected to run until 31st March
