Job summary

Park Avenue is partnering with a Central London Borough to recruit a Housing Standards Officer for a 6-month contract. This role is full-time and on-site in Central London.

You will carry out housing inspections in privately rented properties, complete HHSRS assessments, support the Selective Licensing scheme, investigate housing complaints, and maintain case records from day one. You’ll work independently and enforce standards when needed.

Qualifications

• HHSRS qualified and experienced in housing inspections within Local Authority or regulatory settings.
• Experience with Private Sector Housing, Selective Licensing and Housing Act 2004 enforcement.
• Ability to carry out inspections independently and manage casework from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Carry out housing inspections across privately rented properties.
• Complete HHSRS assessments and identify hazards (Category 1 and 2).
• Support the Council’s Selective Licensing scheme.
• Investigate housing condition complaints and assess properties against housing standards.
• Advise landlords and tenants on remedial works and take enforcement action when required.
• Maintain accurate case records and progress cases to resolution.
