Job summary

The University of Oslo is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Biomaterial Science (BIOMAT) to develop advanced 3D in vitro models for oral biology research. The appointment is for 3 years and involves interdisciplinary collaboration, methodological development, and grant preparation.

You will work on spheroids, organoids, tissue‑engineered constructs and possibly organ‑on‑a‑chip systems, with opportunities for publications and independent research development.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related field.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and 3D in vitro models (CelVivo or similar).
  • Experience with secretome/secretomics, extracellular vesicles/exosomes, proteomics.
  • Experience with multiplex cytokine/biomarker panels across matrices.
  • Strong English oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize and validate advanced 3D cell culture models (spheroids, organoids, tissues).
  • Establish and apply rotational 3D culture systems like CelVivo.
  • Design experiments on cell–cell and biomaterial–cell interactions.
  • Perform secretome and EV/exosome analyses.
  • Use high-multiplex protein assays for cytokines and biomarkers.
  • Conduct microscopy and molecular characterization.
  • Integrate imaging with omics data.
  • Contribute to analyses of clinical samples.
  • Support publications, proposals and grant writing.
  • Collaborate within BIOMAT and related groups.
