Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, engineering cybernetics, applied mathematics, electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong academic background with average grade equal to B or better.
  • Admission to the faculty's doctoral programme in Engineering Cybernetics.
  • Strong programming skills, in particular Python, and practical experience with modern ML frameworks.
  • Non-English language applicants must present an official language test.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on trustworthy agentic AI built on open-weight foundation models.
  • Develop and evaluate methods for reliable, accountable agent behaviour.
  • Validate methods on maritime and safety-relevant case studies.
  • Publish academically and disseminate results.
  • Participate in CPS Lab and NTNU Maritime AI Centre activities.
  • Take courses totaling at least 30 ECTS.
