Job summary

NTNU Norwegian University of Science and Technology invites applications for a PhD Candidate position in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, affiliated with the aiD research center and SINTEF. The project combines numerical analysis, machine learning, and industrial case studies, offering a path toward a doctoral degree and a career in higher education and research.

Supervisors are Professor Elena Celledoni and Senior Researcher Sølve Eidnes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in mathematical sciences or equivalent, with 120 credits at master's level
• Strong academic record with a B or better (NTNU scale) or documented equivalent
• Excellent English oral and written communication
• Strong skills in mathematics, probabilities, optimization and programming

Responsibilities

• Complete the doctoral education until obtaining a doctorate.
• Carry out high-quality research within the described framework.
• Publish academic papers and disseminate results to a broader audience.
• Participate in the aiD center and NTNU Energy strategic area.
• Attend international conferences and research stays as needed.
• Validate research on industrial use-cases.
