Job summary

NTNU in Trondheim seeks a PhD Candidate to explore sociotechnical aspects of digital sovereignty within public and private sectors. The project examines governance, architecture, and collective action to preserve autonomy in a centralized digital environment.

The position emphasizes research excellence, publication activity, and engagement with national and international communities. Admission to the PhD programme within three months is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in information systems or interdisciplinary computing/social sciences/law with a major independent project (minimum 30 ECTS).
• Strong academic record, equivalent to a B or better on NTNU's grading scale, or documented excellence.
• Demonstrated knowledge in sociotechnical traditions.
• Demonstrated expertise in qualitative research methods.
• Good written and oral English language skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete the doctoral education until obtaining a doctorate.
• Carry out and publish research of good quality within the framework described above.
• Participate in the national research community on digital sovereignty.
• Participate in international activities such as conferences and/or research stays at foreign educational institutions.
