Job summary

Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim invites applications for a fully funded 4-year PhD position. The role is interdisciplinary, in collaboration with the Department of Design and anchored in the CREST-GLOBAL team, focusing on equitable urban transitions and decision-making under uncertainty.

The PhD candidate will complete doctoral studies, engage with international partners, teach master students in Urban Planning and the Humanitarian Design course, and publish

Qualifications

• Master's degree in urban planning, industrial design or equivalent (5-year Norwegian Master with 120 credits).
• Average grade equal to B or better on NTNU scale; equivalent foundation acceptable if no letter grades.
• Admission to the faculty's Doctoral Programme.
• Excellent oral and written English.
• Strong project proposal with research questions, theory, gaps and methodology.

Responsibilities

• Complete doctoral education leading to a PhD.
• Participate in CREST GLOBAL, Adaptation thematic group and Gemini Centre initiatives.
• Participate in international activities such as conferences/research stays.
• Teach and supervise master students in Urban Planning and Humanitarian Design courses.
• Publish academic work and disseminate findings.
