Job summary

The City of Smithville is seeking a Part-time Solid Waste Laborer to help collect leaves, limbs and vegetation using city or rented equipment, approximately 20 hours per week. This role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing routine equipment tasks.

Responsibilities include operating a vacuum leaf machine and wood chipper, doing daily maintenance, and performing related duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience operating city or municipal equipment is a plus.
• Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Part-time Solid Waste Laborer

Uses city or rented equipment to pick up leaves, limbs, and other vegetation that have been cut by citizens or city work crews. Operate vacuum leaf machine, wood chipper, and other small mechanical or hand tools, either curbside or at a storage location. Perform daily maintenance on all equipment. Also performs related work as required. High School Diploma or GED, Texas Driver's License. Work indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures, including heat, cold, temperature swings, and inclement weather. Approximately 20 hours a week and no benefits.
