Job summary

Lee County Government’s General Services department is seeking a temporary/part-time litter control/spotter to remove litter and debris from roadways and county properties, and to assist with snow removal as needed.

Responsibilities include driving to collect trash, disposing of collected waste, performing safety checks, and maintaining equipment, while following all county and OSHA safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license for North Carolina.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather.
• Pre-employment drug testing is required.

Description Of Work

The Solid Waste division of Lee County Government’s General Services department is seeking qualified individuals to fill the position of temporary/part‑time litter control/spotter. Responsibilities of this position include removing litter and debris from roadways and right‑of‑ways, picking up trash from county properties and other assigned routes, removing snow and ice when necessary, and performing other special collections as needed. This position reports directly to the Solid Waste Enforcement Officer.

Essential Functions

• Driving trucks to collect and transport trash to designated areas.
• Disposing of collected trash in designated areas.
• Participating in cleaning, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Conducting safety checks prior to operating equipment.
• Following all county and OSHA safety procedures.
• Demonstrating good communication and customer service skills.
• Working in a fast‑paced outdoor environment all day.
• Understanding the operation of automotive equipment, traffic laws, regulations, safe driving practices, and occupational hazards.
• Understanding and following oral instructions and maintaining effective relationships with associates.

Special Requirements

• Must have a valid driver’s license for the state of North Carolina.
