Job summary

Blue Moon Metals Inc. seeks a Mine Safety Engineer for the Nussir Project in Hammerfest, Norway. You will oversee safety during underground construction and, as production begins, establish day-to-day safety systems for a long-life asset.

You will lead risk assessments, PHSRs, and training programs; ensure compliance with Arbeidsmiljøloven and Norwegian mining standards; and mentor diverse contractor teams to foster a zero-incident culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Occupational Health & Safety.
• 5–8 years in heavy industrial environments with 3+ years underground mine operations or tunneling.
• Experience transitioning assets from construction to steady-state operations is valued.
• Fluency in English; Norwegian or Swedish is advantageous for local coordination.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safety during underground construction, including development works.
• Lead PHSR and risk assessments for installation and commissioning of equipment.
• Design, calibrate and monitor mine safety systems (ventilation, gas detection, blast clearance).
• Ensure compliance with Norwegian laws and Directorate of Mines requirements.
• Develop and deliver safety training for underground crews and surface teams.
• Lead incident investigations and map corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
