Job summary

Clarion Hotel is seeking a Conference Staff Member for The Edge Hotel in Tromsø. You’ll be the face of our Meeting & Events department, ensuring flawless guest experiences from coffee to closing presentations.

Role involves welcoming guests, preparing rooms, and providing technical support for AV systems. The job requires flexibility for varied shifts, including evenings and weekends, and a proactive, multi-tasking mindset.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English; Norwegian is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
• Comfortable with technology and AV basics.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and provide information to ensure smooth experiences.
• Prepare meeting rooms: furniture, snacks, and tech readiness.
• Provide technical support for devices, Wi‑Fi, projectors, webcams, mics.
• Assist with event flow and solve issues quickly to keep meetings on track.
• Coordinate with hotel teams to keep schedules and handoffs seamless.
• Handle setup and breakdown of furniture for different configurations.
• Receive hotel deliveries and maintain room readiness.

We are looking for a Conference Staff Member to join our team at The Edge Hotel in Tromsø. You are the go-to person who ensures our guests have a flawless experience from the first cup of coffee to the final presentation.

What you’ll do:

As a Conference Staff member, you are the face of our meeting rooms and represent the Meeting & Events department in all their activities, meetings and events.

• Welcoming guests and making them feel at home with all the info they need, verified.
• Prepping the rooms – making sure furniture, snacks, and technology are 100% ready.
• Technical support – helping guests connect their devices to our systems and making sure the Wi‑Fi, projectors, webcams and microphones work properly.
• Event flow – Have a problem solving mindset, being on hand to solve problems quickly so the meetings never stop and customers gain confidence and trust in our abilities.
• Coordination – working with all other hotel teams to keep everything on schedule.
• Mental work – Multi tasking, taking responsibility and servicing multiple meetings at the same time is part of our daily challenges. This position will benefit high performance staff that are always looking for something to do.
• Physical work – Moving furniture, desks, tables, chairs & various equipment. Our rooms are very flexible on setups and each meeting or conference have their own agenda. So we need to setup the furniture accordingly. We are also responsible for receiving all hotel deliveries.

This is a temporary position for an Extra help contract with a start date to be agreed upon. The position requires working varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.

You’ll shine here if you are:

• A "people person" who stays calm, happy and smiling even when it’s busy and stress levels are high.
• Comfortable with tech and not afraid to plug in cables or restart a router or troubleshoot a guest PC.
• Fluent in English, (Norwegian is beneficial) to communicate clearly with all our guests, local and international.
• Detail‑oriented – you notice if a chair is crooked or a water bottle is empty before the guest does.
• High work rate and self sufficient.
• A person that loves to exceed at work for their team.

Bonus points for:

• Experience in events, hotels, or restaurants.
• A background in tech or AV support.
