Job summary

Overwatch in collaboration with its client seeks an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee mechanical delivery for hyperscale data centre projects, guiding design coordination through construction, commissioning and handover.

You will ensure cooling systems, HVAC, piping and plant infrastructure meet safety, performance and quality standards while integrating with other building systems. Strong communication and international collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in mechanical delivery on data centre or mission-critical projects.
• Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering or related field.
• Good understanding of HVAC, liquid cooling, and mechanical controls.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee all mechanical construction activities to meet design intent, schedule, and standards.
• Ensure compliance with local electrical codes, standards, and HSE regulations for the project location.
• Review design drawings, submittals, and documentation for constructability and compliance.
• Manage on-site interfaces between mechanical systems and other disciplines.
• Monitor progress, identify risks, and support schedule recovery across all mechanical packages.
• Oversee QA, inspections, and testing during installation and commissioning.
• Support integrated systems testing and maintain complete verification documentation.
• Conduct regular coordination meetings with contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
• Promote safety, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

In partnership with Overwatch EMEA, our client is building the infrastructure for Europe’s AI revolution. Developing cutting-edge sovereign generative AI solutions, powered by a new generation of high-performance, sustainable data centres and GPUs built specifically for AI workloads.

We are actively recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee all mechanical system delivery for our clients hyperscale data centre projects. You will manage the technical execution of mechanical packages from design coordination through construction, commissioning, and handover.

This owner-side role requires strong technical knowledge of cooling systems, HVAC, piping, and plant infrastructure. You will ensure mechanical works are designed, installed, and commissioned to meet our client’s safety, performance, and quality standards, while maintaining seamless integration with other building systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee all mechanical construction activities, ensuring works meet design intent, schedule, and technical standards.
• Ensure compliance with local electrical codes, statutory requirements, applicable standards, and HSE regulations relevant to the project location
• Review and validate design drawings, submittals, and technical documentation for constructability and compliance.
• Manage on-site interfaces between mechanical systems and other disciplines (Electrical, Controls, CSA).
• Monitor and report on progress, identify risks, and support schedule recovery planning across all mechanical packages, ensuring visibility and alignment across the wider delivery team.
• Oversee quality assurance, inspections, and testing throughout installation and commissioning phases.
• Support integrated systems testing (IST) and ensure complete verification and documentation of mechanical systems.
• Conduct regular coordination meetings with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to maintain alignment and resolve issues.
• Promote a culture of safety, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across all project activities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years’ experience managing mechanical delivery, including within data centre or mission-critical projects.
• Degree or qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, liquid cooling, and mechanical controls (experience with AI/HPC data centers and cooling systems- including DTC, TCS, and CDU-is an advantage)
• Proven experience in coordinating design, installation, and commissioning activities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiar with project reporting and scheduling tools.
• Fluent in English; Norwegian advantageous.
