Job summary

CTS Group in Oslo is seeking an experienced Mechanical Manager to lead mechanical systems delivery on a major data centre project. You will manage installation through commissioning, ensure safety, schedule, budget, and quality, while coordinating with subcontractors and stakeholders.

You will provide leadership to site teams, oversee HVAC, piping, cooling, and plant systems, and drive successful turnover with complete documentation and handover packages for a mission-critical facility.

Qualifications

• Degree or Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 8–10 years of experience delivering mechanical systems on large-scale construction projects.
• Experience in industrial, pharmaceutical, mission-critical, energy, or data centre projects is highly desirable.

Mechanical Manager - Data Centres

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Manager to join our project team in Oslo and lead the delivery of mechanical systems on a major data centre project.

Reporting to the Mechanical Package Manager (or Project Leadership Team), the Mechanical Manager will be responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing all mechanical construction activities from installation through commissioning and handover. This role will ensure that mechanical works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will provide leadership to site teams, coordinate with subcontractors and project stakeholders, and drive the successful delivery of critical mechanical infrastructure including HVAC, piping, cooling, and plant systems.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Project Delivery

• Manage all mechanical construction activities across assigned project areas.
• Oversee the installation of HVAC, chilled water, pipework, drainage, insulation, and associated mechanical systems.
• Ensure mechanical works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications, programme requirements, and quality standards.
• Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.

Site Management & Coordination

• Lead and coordinate mechanical supervisors, subcontractors, and site teams.
• Develop short-term work plans and oversee resource allocation.
• Coordinate mechanical activities with civil, structural, electrical, and commissioning teams to ensure efficient project execution.
• Manage workfront availability and minimize interface conflicts between disciplines.

Quality Management

• Ensure all mechanical installations meet project quality requirements and industry standards.
• Lead inspections, walk-downs, snagging activities, and quality reviews.
• Support inspection and test plans (ITPs), documentation reviews, and handover processes.
• Drive continuous improvement and promote best practices across the project.

Safety Leadership

• Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance.
• Ensure full compliance with project HSE procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct safety observations, toolbox talks, and site inspections.
• Investigate and address safety concerns within the mechanical scope of works.

Commissioning & Handover

• Support commissioning planning and execution activities.
• Ensure mechanical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project requirements.
• Coordinate with commissioning teams to achieve successful system turnover and handover.
• Ensure completion of all mechanical documentation, records, and as-built information.

Stakeholder Management

• Attend and lead coordination meetings with project stakeholders.
• Provide regular reporting on mechanical progress, risks, resource requirements, and performance metrics.
• Liaise with consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and client representatives on mechanical-related matters.
• Support project leadership in achieving overall project objectives.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

• Degree or Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional certifications and industry memberships are advantageous.

Experience

• Minimum 8-10 years' experience delivering mechanical systems on large-scale construction projects.
• Previous experience in industrial, pharmaceutical, mission-critical, energy, or data centre projects is highly desirable.
• Proven experience managing mechanical subcontractors and site teams.
• Strong understanding of commissioning and project handover processes.
• Experience working in fast-track construction environments.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of:
